Full History

For over three decades, the Waid Family has owned and operated the Waid Funeral Home in Merrill, Wisconsin. Merrill is where they were born and raised, and where they have helped many families through the loss of a loved one. The Merrill area community has in turn helped their families through the loss of several family members, including the tragic death of their brother, friend, and business partner, Dean, in 2000.

The original facility was built in 1994 and was redecorated in 2010. With Alan approaching retirement, Paul, Alan, and their families were faced with many difficult decisions regarding ownership of the funeral home, particularly how to ensure the personal care and loving service for which the funeral home has always been known. After much consideration, the Waid family decided to look for a partner in order to allow Paul to focus primarily on serving families.

The endeavor to secure the history of family service led them to the Vertin family, who has been faithfully serving families since 1904 and is highly respected by funeral director associations and peers alike. This partnership has allowed the team at Waid to devote themselves entirely to the care of fellow Merrill families.
