Virginia Rubbino

May 26, 1945 — May 2, 2016

Virginia "Gina" Rubbino, age 70, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born May 26, 1945 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Onofrio and Catherine (Napoli) Rubbino. Virginia worked at Lincoln Industries for many years. She was a resident of Pine Crest and enjoyed all activities there including the "coconut performance" and Santa Claus, but the auction was her favorite. Gina also had many very special friends. Lu was her closest as her roommate and a wonderful mother figure to her. Gina was very social and fun-loving. She enjoyed music in every way, shape and form, listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis, karaoke, and singing in the choir. Gina loved social gatherings, enjoying an occasional "ba-quila", visiting with children and looked forward to her birthday every year. She loved church and attended Mass at Pine Crest at every opportunity but if she didn't make it, she was sure to listen to radio services. Survivors include her sister: Josephine Carpentier, Merrill; four nieces and two nephews: Cindy (special friend Art) Eykamp, IL, Nancy (Les) Weber, Merrill, Dan (Lynette) Carpentier, Merrill, Deb Carpentier, Wausau, Kathy McDonough, Merrill, and Mike(Jennette) Carpentier, WA; several great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Onofrio and Catherine Rubbino, and her brother-in-law, Marvin Carpentier. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Father Chris Kemp will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30pm until the time of service, also at Pine Crest. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. The family would like to thank the entire Pine Crest Nursing Home staff, Dr. Gregory Gill, and all her friends at Pine Crest with special thanks to Lu, "Mary", Dan, Dennis and Penny.
