Salma Baumann

Salma Cloella Baumann, age 93, passed away peacefully at Rennes Health & Rehab on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Salma, the daughter of Otto and Bertha (Plank) Pfantz, was born on July 3, 1928, at home in the town of Merrill, Wisconsin.  She was baptized September 16, 1928, by the pastor serving Trinity Lutheran Church Dutch Corners.  She was confirmed in the Christian Faith in April of 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church Dutch Corners.

Salma married Lawrence Baumann on June 9, 1956.  The Lord blessed them with 7 children.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Dutch Corners and Lutheran Memorial Church, Gleason WI.  Salma farmed her entire life, raising her children on a dairy farm.  Salma’s greatest blessings were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She enjoyed cutting boughs, berry picking, embroidery, and baking.  Every summer, Salma made 100+ apple pies that she gave away to family, friends, and church bake sales.

Salma is preceded in death by her Parents: Otto and Bertha Pfantz; Husband:  Lawrence Baumann; son: Ricky John; Six brothers:  Paul, Erich, Carl, Roscoe, Ernest, and Floyd Pfantz; and three sisters:  Sophie Henderson, Alvira Younker and Amelia Lutzke.

Survivors include:  Her children:  Paulette (Loren) Stepan of Kansas; Anthony (Roxanne) Baumann; Terry (Debbie) Baumann; Kelvin (Tammy) Baumann; Beverly (Scott) Ashby; Jesse (Jessica) Baumann, all of Merrill.  Eleven Grandchildren:  Aaron, Christopher, Dustin, Casey, Katelyn, Geoffrey, Garrett, Rochelle, Caleb, Eric, and Gideon; Twelve Great-Grandchildren:  Aurora; Carter; Cordon, Reece, Cora, Ashtynn, Peyton, Jordan, Naomi, Colton, Brennan and Adalee; and sister-in-law: Lucille Pfantz of Wausau.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Lutheran Memorial Church, Gleason WI.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service also at the church.  Pastor Greg Laska will preside.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, January 21, 2022, at Waid Funeral & Cremation Service of Merrill.   Interment to take place at Trinity Lutheran Dutch Corners Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Memorial Church, Gleason, WI.
