Rodney Sabatke

Rodney Allen Sabatke, age 65, of Merrill, Wisconsin passed away on June 29, 2022. He was born to Leslie and Pearl (Porath) Sabatke on October 2, 1956, in Merrill, Wisconsin.

Rodney enlisted into the Air Force in 1975 and was honorably discharged in 1978. While in the Air Force, he was an ammunition specialist. He became very knowledgeable of planes during his time in the military.

He was a simple man who was satisfied with life. He didn’t like to be the center of attention, but he had a big heart. He loved hot rods, bicycling, skateboarding, and cutting and splitting wood. Rodney really enjoyed rock music and knew the bands well!

Rodney is survived by his mother Pearl Sabatke, siblings: Gerald (Patti) Sabatke, Linda (Marty) Sabatke, and Craig (Crystal) Sabatke, nephews: Andrew (Pamela) Sabatke, Adam (Jackie) Sabatke, Breyden Sabatke, and Bryce Sabatke, seven great nephews and nieces and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed to a charity organization of their choice at a later date.

A memorial service for Rodney will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 3:00pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill.  Pastor Mike Southcombe will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 1:00pm until the time of the service, also at the funeral home.
