Reinhard Daniel Langhoff Jr., age 84, of Merrill, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Aspirus Merrill Hospital. He was born on June 3, 1940 to the late Reinhard Sr. and Dorothy (Peterson) Langhoff in Merrill, WI. Reinhard attended school in Merrill until, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Marines to bravely serve his country. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and married the love of his life, soul mate and partner in everything, Fern Leistikow, on January 26, 1963, in Merrill, WI. She survives.
Reinhard worked at Wausau Papers in the boiler room for many years until his retirement. He was a modest and private man but had the best sense of humor and was an avid jokester! Reinhard, a.k.a Pa, Papa and G-Pop, loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, especially watching Packer and Brewer games, playing cards, and working in the woods and around home. A true outdoorsman and woodsman, he was a skilled hunter, trapper and fisherman. Reinhard and Fern enjoyed motorcycle trips together, traveling across the country more than a dozen times and even biking up to Alaska on two separate occasions. In his spare time, he looked forward to participating in card clubs and playing poker. Reinhard will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Reinhard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years: Fern Langhoff, son: Daniel (Bonnie) Langhoff, daughter: Rebecca (William) Kludy, granddaughters: Sasha (Blake) Everett and Myria Kludy, great grandsons: Ezekiel and Daxon Everett, brother: Bruce Langhoff and sister: Bonnie (Clark) Callahan, as well as many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: David (Florence) Langhoff.
A Celebration of Life and military honors for Reinhard will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Aspirus Merrill Hospital for their care and compassion shown to them during Reinhard’s stay there.
