Peter Gierl

Peter E. Gierl died Friday, August 27, 2010 at his home in the Town of Maine . He was born July 19, 1932 in Colby , WI . He Graduated from Colby High School in 1950. He entered the Army in 1952 after farming a short while with his uncles. During the Korean War, he was wounded in action. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and CIB. After his discharge from the Army, he worked in Wisconsin and Illinois for a while and then moved to Seattle , WA , where he spent most of his life working on construction. Peter is survived by six sisters, one brother, three step-sisters and three step-brothers. At his request his body was donated to the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. There will be no services and his ashes will be scattered in Puget Sound near Seattle . Taps will be played by his brother-in-law at that time. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
