Patricia 'Patty' Geiger

Patricia Donna Geiger, 87, passed away on December 27,2020 with her family by her side.  Patricia was born December 30, 1932 in Minocqua, Wisconsin to Francis and Clara Paquette.  In 1949 she met the love of her life on a blind date.  She married Gordon Geiger on September 4, 1950 in Merrill, WI.  They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.  Pat and Gordie settled in Merrill where they raised their ten children.  Patricia worked many jobs throughout her life.  In her younger days she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Minocqua where she was known to call on Elizabeth Taylor when Taylor would visit the Minocqua area.  While in Merrill she worked at Luebke’s Office Supply and Spurgeon’s Department store. Her favorite job however was her job as Mom and Grandma.  Patricia treasured her family and loved spending time with them.  She loved baking and her grandkids will tell you that grandma made the best cookies.  Pat and Gordie enjoyed tandem biking, playing cribbage and traveling.  She was an avid mystery reader and loved to Christmas shop.  She always looked forward to her annual girls shopping weekend with her daughters and granddaughters.

Patricia will be deeply missed by Gordon, her husband of 70 years and their ten children and their families.  Katie (Jerry) Adamovich, Eagle River, WI and their children Tim (Jen), Eric (Kim), Adam (Jami), Tara (Justin); Tony (Allison) Geiger, Merrill and Mary; G. Mark (Carla) Geiger Lodi, WI and their children Mark (Cathy), Erin (Shawn) and Brent (Loren); Jenny (Mark) Cournaya, Merrill and their children Jena (Scott) and Molly (Jerry); Mary Beth (Brad) Sanders, Merrill and their children Jason (Molly), Jared (Jess) and Peter (Nikki); Patrick (SonDee) Geiger, Olin, IA and their children Bryanne (Matt), Abby (Quincey), Paige (Brian), Danielle (Andy) and Kolin; Peter (Amy) Geiger, Cottage Grove, WI and their children Mitch and Ally; Tim (Amy) Geiger, Gilbert, AZ and their children Zachary, Jade and Kaden; Molly (Jeff) Drakas, Menasha, WI and their children Emily, Eric and Matt (Carley);  Leah (Gary) Knop, West Bend, WI and their children Kailey (Christopher), Trevor and Hannah. Thirty-six great grandchildren, her brother Dennis Paquette, sister-in-law Grace Batchelder and many nieces and nephews.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jean, Virginia, Shirley, and Frank, two Grandsons, Nathan Cournaya and Ben Geiger, and daughter-in-law Roxanne Geiger.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill.  Father Maria Vallabhaneni will officiate.  Burial in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations in Patricia’s name be directed to the T.B. Scott Public Library in Merrill, because of her love for books.
