Myra Waldenburg

July 12, 1916 — January 14, 2017

Myra Waldenburg, age 100, died on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Myra was born on July 12, 1916, to the late John and Mathilda Emerich in Merrill. She grew up in Merrill, attending and graduating from Merrill High School. Myra met and fell in love with Alfred "Cy" Waldenburg, and the two exchanged vows on July 2, 1934 in Wausau. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1990. Myra worked as an office manager at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Merrill for over 10 years and in the office at Wisconsin Window Unit for an additional 10 years, until her retirement in 1978. Myra was a selfless woman who put her family first and foremost in her life. She was very involved with her family, even having her grandchildren stay with her during the summer months. She was a fun-loving person that was easy to be around, and she had many friends. While raising her daughter, Myra was a Girl Scout leader for 7 years. Myra was very passionate about working on the genealogy of her family tree; it interested her very much. Myra will be remembered as an avid Green Bay Packer fan. When she wasn't watching a Packers game, Myra would enjoy relaxing with a good book. She was a regular patron of the local library. She was a member Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill and very involved with the Ladies Aid, Mission Circle and the Altar Guild. For over 50 years she was a member of a card club called the 6th Ward Circle. Myra was a giving and caring lady that will be sadly missed. Myra is survived by her daughter: Kay (Al) Hansen of Hartland, WI, grandchildren: Katie (Sam) Watry of Portland, OR and Andy (special friend, Gina Matranga) Hansen of Longmont, CO, her new great granddaughter: Merrill Mae Watry, and her "bonus" daughter who was very special to her: Kathy Nezworski of Merrill. She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Mathilda Emerich, husband: Cy Waldenburg, son (in infancy): Gary Waldenburg and brothers: Harvey, Elroy, Raymond and Vilas "Dubby" Emerich. Funeral Services for Myra will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4pm-7pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill, and again on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10am until the time of the service, at the church. Burial at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery will immediately follow the service. Family wishes to extend their thanks to the Pine Crest staff for their care and compassion to Myra during her time there. Memorials in Myra's name may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill or the TB Scott Library in Merrill or charity of choice.
