Meta Mootz

Meta Lenore Mootz, 86, of Merrill, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 at Walnut Grove Assisted Living Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice.



Meta was born July 17, 1923 to the late David & Elizabeth (Herdt) Sauer in Arlington , Minnesota . She married Glenn Mootz in Hamburg , Wisconsin on June 12, 1943. He preceded her in death February 10, 2010.



Meta attended school in the Town of Scott . She then worked as a housekeeper for Fromm’s Fox Farm. Later she worked as a cook for Hinz’s Cork & Dine, then BelleVue Café, Hwy 51 Truck Stop, Skippers Restaurant, Holy Cross Hospital and The Eagle’s Club. Meta was a member of Trinity Ladies Aid and of the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and was an avid card player. In her youth she loved to dance to Polka music.



Survivors include her three sons: Robert (Helen Kay) of Merrill, Kenneth (Sandy) of Merrill, Daniel (Karen) of Wausau, grandchildren: John (JoAnn), James (Ginnie), Leah (Adam), Lisa (Brad), Jason (Kristina), Aaron, Stacey (Michael), Tony (Leah) and Miranda; 3 great grandchildren: Valerie, Caylie and Damien; many nieces and nephews and two brothers: LaVern (Bernice) Sauer and David (Joann) Sauer, all of Merrill. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glenn.



Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 19, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church . The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Waid Funeral Home and again from 9:30 – 10:30 AM before the service Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Park .
