Mary Ann Hinner, age 84, of Merrill, peacefully passed on and in the company of one of her beloved sons on April 11, 2016 at Rennes Health & Rehab in Weston, WI. Family gathered, forming a circle with her, rejoicing and sharing how special she was to all of her family as she left this earth in glory. Mary was born on October 12, 1931 to the late Stephen and Lucy (Staszak) Kleman in Bevent, WI, where she was raised on the family farm. She cleaned houses for relatives and friends before working at St. Mary's Hospital. In June 1950, she married Roger W. Hinner, had six children, helped where needed in the business, including escorting over-sized loads to their job sites taking her as far north as Canada and south to Florida. She earned her C.N.A. certificate and cared for the aging nuns in Merrill. She was divorced in the early 90's. Mary was a 28 year breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in March of 2015. The past year has been filled with reflection. Mary loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She listened to them attentively and loved reading to the little ones. Mary was in awe of them when they were babies and she could hold and cuddle them with love. She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments and enjoyed visiting their businesses and talking to everyone she knew. Mary enjoyed reading the company newsletters that were published and saved every one of them! She was so proud of her grandchildren for educating themselves and moving in their own direction or joining in the family businesses to continue a legacy that she was part of. Grandma Mary enjoyed traveling in her Ford T-Birds; she especially loved driving back and forth to Las Vegas where she spent two winters house-sitting for her sister and brother-in-law. She ultimately bought a condo, spending four more years getting away from the cold winters of Wisconsin. She loved traveling, especially out west just to see the mountains, any mountains! Mary also loved the giant redwoods in California. Her favorite bird, the red cardinal, would return every Spring to one of the many bird feeders in her yard, which she kept full all year long. She enjoyed working in her yard, keeping up on all of her flowers and plants. Grandma Mary and her best friend, Sandy Scheu (1999), shared lots of time together going on shopping trips, stopping at the casinos, and so much more. She looked forward to seeing her again. Mary was famous for her home-made apple pie, which was truly a treat at every Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner – and if you were lucky – a "just because" dinner! Grandma Mary made a sauerkraut with ribs and potatoes dinner that no one could beat! Mary was known for making the best soup ever, especially her "Pea Green Soup", made from left-over ham bones. Her banana nut bread was always a favorite, and she would make it upon request, including the nuts or no nuts! This was another prize recipe tweaked to perfection by her loving hands. Mary has led a long life filled with joyful memories of her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Grandma Mary looked forward to seeing her passed loved ones again. We, her family, all celebrate her life!
