Margie E. Imhoff, just shy of her 85th birthday, died on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Woodland Court in Merrill, while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Ascension Hospice. She was born on November 4, 1935 to the late Edwin and Selma (Hess) Engebrecht in Helenville, WI. Margie attended and graduated from Wausau High School and went on to take some college courses to further her education. She met John Imhoff and the two exchanged marriage vows on October 8, 1955 in Cassel, WI, a union lasting over 65 years. He survives.
Margie was a supervisor in the audit review department at Employers Insurance in Wausau for 35 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for holidays and family gatherings. Margie would always make a point to watch her children and grandchildren in all their sporting events, even traveling a distance to watch them. She looked forward to making maple syrup with her family and cooking and cleaning for the hunting group – she was the camp cook. Margie liked to watch her shows, which included “Monk” and “Murder She Wrote”, and she loved reading books by her favorite authors, Debbie Malcolm and Mary Higgins Clark. She was an avid bowler, gardener and liked to visit with family and friends. Margie was a loving woman that was also an excellent and supportive caretaker. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau.
She was always willing to listen and help, giving counsel and advice to those in need.
Margie will be sadly missed by her husband: John Imhoff, son: Mike (Chris) Imhoff, with their children: Spencer (Stephanie) Imhoff, along with their children: Owen, Lucas and Natalie and Heather (George) Davies, along with their children: Charlotte and Asher, son: Steve (Sue) Imhoff, with their daughter: Sarah, daughter: Ruth Dayton, with her son: Eric, brothers: George (Charlotte), Gerald (Ellen), Norman Engebrecht, sister: Anna (Dave) Prouty. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Robert and Charlie Engebrecht.
A memorial service for Margie will be held at a later date.
The family of Margie would like to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to Woodland Court staff especially Deb and Linsey and to Ascension Hospice staff for all their care and compassion that was shown to Margie and her family.
