Lucille Holzem

Lucille A. Holzem, age 89, of Merrill, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, surrounded by her family. Lucille was born January 11, 1924, in Merrill, the daughter of the late Henry and Sophie (Tobolski) Krahn. She married John W. Holzem Sr on August 22, 1942 in Merrill. He passed away August 11, 1984. Lucille worked at Wire Products Corporation and Merrill Manufacturing for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Lucille loved to go fishing, snowmobiling and camping with Maggie and Red Woller, Joanne and Larry Benzinger, and her granddaughter, Johnille. Lucille enjoyed feeding the squirrels and was very attached to her dog, Charlie. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. The family would like to acknowledge her longtime friend, Betty Larson. Lucille is survived by two sons; Harry and John Holzem Jr, both of Merrill. Two daughters; Barbara (Larry) Krueger of Manitowoc and Lynnette (Edward) Isaacson of Merrill. Three sisters; Dorothy Sanborn of Appleton, Evelyn Thompson and Jeanette Harkner, both of Merrill. 8 grandchildren; Johnille, Chad, Jason, Cari, Nawana, Thomas John, Natasha and Coty and 2 great-grandchildren; Mikayla and Adeline. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Sr., a son, Tom and a brother, Leslie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. The Rev. Fr. Mike McLain will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM, Tuesday, May 21, 2013, and again on Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Waid Funeral Home.
