Laurice Schwartzman, age 82, passed away peacefully onThursday, September 29, 2016 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. Laurice was born on July 6, 1934 to Arthur and Laura (Whitson) Severt. She attended the Merrill School system and graduated in 1952. On August 29, 1953 she married Thomas Schwartzman at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, a union lasting over 63 years. She and Tom were blessed with three children, Bruce, Kim and Laurel. Laurice was an immaculate housekeeper and a fine cook – she and Tom hosted innumerable family get-togethers where no one ever walked away hungry. The Schwartzman household was a frequent destination for out of town guests. Music, card playing and good food were always on the agenda. Laurice was an accomplished organist and loved waltzes and polkas as well as hymns. Sing-alongs were almost required. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Laurice took great pride in her children and showered them with unconditional love and understanding, even in the most difficult situations. She was a great listener and showed much patience and understanding. Tom and Laurice loved an occasional trip to the casinos which she enjoyed and was known to be quite lucky at times. Survivors include her husband: Thomas Gene Schwartzman, Merrill; son; Bruce (Michelle) Schwartzman; daughter: Laurel (Kelly) Streich; daughter-in-law: Barb Schwartzman, all of Merrill; five grandchildren: Michelle Schwartzman, Ryan (Steph) Schwartzman, Erin (Chris) Swan, Christopher (Karen) Streich and Michelle (Andy) Geiss; seven great-grandchildren: Mitchel, Cooper Bradley, Renlee Eden, Wyatt Arthur, Matthew, Josilynn, Madilynn, Lucas and Michael; one brother: Terry Severt; and one sister-in-law: Betty Severt.
