Kenneth Edward Bloch, age 88, of the Town of Hamburg, Wisconsin, passed away on February 3, 2022, in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was born on March 10, 1933, to Edward and Esther (Krenz) Bloch in the Town of Hamburg, Wisconsin.
He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1963. He served in Korea and received a Medal of Good Conduct and the Marksmanship Medal.
On August 24, 1957, at St. Paul’s in the Town of Hamburg, Kenneth married Deloris Zocher. They travelled together to world’s fair, Europe, and Alaska.
Kenneth worked in the cheese factory, drove milk and gravel trucks, and was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting with Kermit and nephews in Wyoming. Deer, fox, bird, raccoon, and rabbit hunting were also an activity he enjoyed since he was 16 years old. Kenneth loved wood working and made many things for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He raised and trained horses for logging and pulling wagons and sleighs.
“Chat More” was his nickname because he loved telling stories and talking with others in German.
He served on the Athens Coop Board of Directors, was a 4H Dairy Leader, and various other agricultural boards. He held numerous church offices. Kenneth was also a lifetime member of the VFW.
Kenneth is survived by his children; Kathleen (Frank) Weitzel of Raytown, MO, Sherry (John) Kudick of Merrill, WI, Russell (Joyce) Bloch of Hamburg, WI, and Mary (Marty) Soshovske of Gleason, WI, grandchildren; Kristine, Andrew, Kenneth, Kari, Katie, Kyle, Ryan, Julia, Rachael, Justin, Benjamin, and Alissa, 21 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Lynette Bloch of Marathon, WI, and Phyllis (Harold) Woller of Merrill, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Bloch, parents, sister Althea Balz, brother Kermit Bloch and numerous in laws.
Family expresses heartfelt appreciation for the care given by all staff to both Kenneth and Deloris through the years of their stays at Woodland Court.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Hamburg, WI. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Waid Funeral Home and on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 9:00 am until the time of service also at the Church. Interment at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
