June Ethal Zimmerman passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, after being blessed with 103 years on this earth. She passed away at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born on June 13, 1917 to the late William and Adline Bell (Klevine) Radke in Merrill. June attended and graduated from Merrill Senior High in 1935. She fell in love with Eldor ‘Otter’ Zimmerman, and the two exchanged marriage vows on August 9, 1947 in Menasha, WI. After 49 years of marriage, he preceded her in death.
In 1938 June was licensed as a hairdresser and worked for over 40 years. She worked for most of that time at Erickson’s Beauty Salon beneath the Cosmo Theater. She was an excellent homemaker, baker and cook. She enjoyed hosting the family gatherings and holiday get-togethers. June liked to crochet and knit in her past time, and she would gift afghans to friends and family. She loved flowers and plants, especially lilacs. June is remembered as a wonderful mother who was loving, patient and understanding. She cherished her time watching her grandchildren and “sitting” for Jennifer and Angela. Her family took priority in her life. June was easy going and had a sweet and loving soul. She was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Merrill.
June will be missed and remembered by her sons: Alan (Mary) Zimmerman of Spring Green, WI and Wayne (Diana) Zimmerman of Merrill, WI, grandchildren: Zach (Fiancé Katie Golbach) Zimmerman of McHenry, IL, Hanna (Chris) St. Clair of Wausau, WI, Sam (Emily) Zimmerman of Rothschild, WI and Olivia (Wade) Borchardt of Little Chicago, WI, great grandchildren: Addison and Aubryn Zimmerman and Colton Borchardt and numerous nieces and nephews, whom were all close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Eldor Zimmerman, grandson: Andrew Zimmerman and brothers: William, Ottis and Donald Radke.
A private graveside service for June will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1pm at the Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Laska will officiate.
