Judy Weaver

Merrill

Judith A. Weaver, 88, passed peacefully at home, cared for by her husband of 51 years, Robert Weaver. Judy was born April 5, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to Katherine and Howard Bruss. She married Robert Weaver June 5, 1973.

Judy graduated from Rosary College and did graduate work at UW Madison as an English Major. She had several careers – English teacher, social worker, Registered Nurse. She loved to read, engaged in several social justice organizations and above all nurtured her family. Large Sunday dinners were a must, including her ex-husband Pat. She was the clerk and organizer of the North Central worship group Society of Friends (Quakers).

Family was important to her and she loved being surrounded by them, and travelling with them to locations like Peru, Spain, Romania, Cuba, Croatia, Ireland, Costa Rica, and other countries. Judy and Bob served in the Peace Corps and went to India on a mission.

Judy took us around the world insisting that her grandchildren who graduated from high school, come with us. Judy planned trips to all corners of the globe. In the 90’s Judy took Bob to Morocco as a members of the Peace Corp. Judy did social work while Bob fixed hand pumps and wind mills. Judy and Bob volunteered with the Good News Project many times providing health care and building houses in St. Lucia. Judy insisted that the family have a summer lake place for all the family and friends to gather. Bob misses her terribly! Judy had a long list of charitable organizations. She was the center of TB Scott Book Club. Anyone who met her fell under her grace and humility. Her children and grandchildren will always remember she made their lives better. What a privilege being part of that remarkable life!

Judy was preceded in death by her oldest son, Shawn Finucan and her ex-husband Patrick Finucan. She is survived by her husband, Robert Weaver, her daughter: Deirdre (John) Worrell, her sons: Tim (Kathy) Finucan, and James Finucan, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
