John Young

John G. Young, age 61, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital in Weston, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born to James L. and Mary Ann (Weisman) Young on March 4, 1955, in Merrill. His father survives. John met and fell in love with Jamie Streich, and the two exchanged vows on October 26, 1989, in Merrill. She survives. John worked for Quality Wood Products as a rip saw operator for about 30 years. He loved working with wood, and even had his own woodworking shop in his garage, where he spent a lot of time. He was very talented with woodworking , making custom wood furniture. John also enjoyed four-wheeling with family on beautiful days, as he really loved taking in all of the beauty of nature around him. He truly respected nature and enjoyed doing anything outdoors. John would spend time hunting and fishing any chance he could get. Above all, John loved his family, especially his cherished grandchildren, Kayla and Aiden– whom he was very close to. John is survived by his father: James L. Young of Merrill, wife: Jamie Young of Merrill, daughter: Terry (Robert) Teske of Merrill, grandchildren: Kayla and Aiden Kell of Merrill, brothers: James Young, David (Kristine) Young, Tom Young and Jeff Young, all of Merrill, sisters: Martha (Tom) Johnson, Carol (Gary) Hartwig, Diane (special friend, Tim) Plautz, all of Merrill, and Bonnie (Tim) Banaszak of Waupaca and many nieces and nephews whom he held close to his heart. He was preceded in death by his mother: Mary Ann Young, brother: Roger Weisman and sister-in-law: Bonnie Young. A Memorial Service for John will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 4pm at Waid Funeral Home. Celebrant Jennifer Wilken will preside. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 3pm and continue until the time of the service, also at the funeral home.
