John Barrett

John L. Barrett, age 60, of Merrill, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on December 1, 1957 to the late James L. and Janet L. (Harris) Barrett in Elgin, IL.  John had attended school in Tomahawk, WI.

In his younger years, John worked construction with large equipment with his dad.   He was especially proud of the job they did at the O’Hare airport. John had proudly served the country in the United States Navy.  He enjoyed and looked forward to fishing during the summer months and riding his motorcycle.

Later in life, illnesses and disabilities had taken their toll on John, and he was no longer able to work.  John was still able to enjoy nature and spending time with animals, especially dogs.  He is remembered  as a giving, friendly and caring man that was always willing to help where  needed.

John is survived by his brother: Craig Barrett of Merrill, sister: Cheryl  “Sherrie”(Randy) Weege of Merrill, nieces:  Heather (Jeff) Nelson and Stephanie Weege, nephew: Tim Tresness, great niece and nephew: Kaitlyn and Nolan, good friends:  Ray Bloomer and Roy Kawell and special friend: Terri Nelson.  He is preceded in death by his parents: James L. and Janet L. Barrett and nephew: Jay Barrett.

Per John’s request, there will be no services held.
