Helen Bollerey

Helen Minnie Laura Bollerey, age 79, of Merrill, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. She was born June 21, 1934 in the Town of Scott to the late William & Meta (Mau) Bollerey. Helen attended St. John's Elementary School and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill. Helen did seasonal work at the Merrill Cannery and enjoyed making and selling Christmas wreaths. She devoted her time to the family farm and gardening. Helen liked shopping and going out to eat. She looked forward to the Edgar Steam Engine Show every year. On Saturdays, Helen loved listening to the Polka Hour Radio Show and requesting songs for people's birthdays. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Merrill. Survivors include her sister: Marion Martell, of Merrill; brother: Edwin Bollerey, of Merrill; childhood friend: Donna Mielke, of Merrill; and nieces: Cheryl (Michael) DeGyurky, of Hartford, Gwen "Wendie" (Brian) Martell-Williams, of Merrill, and Patricia "Patty" Martell, of Merrill. She was preceded in death by her parents, special friend Lylas Utecht, three brothers: Emil (Aurelia) Bollerey, Albert Bollerey and Bernard Bollerey; sister, Edna (Fred) Friman two brothers-in-law, Edward Martell and Fred Friman and sister-in-law, Aurelia Bollerey. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Dave Dahlke will officiate. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Monday before the funeral at the church. Entombment will follow at Merrill Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Crest Extended Care Unit and Ministry Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness they expressed to Helen.
