Harry Erdman Jr., 88, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, June 18, at Good Samaritan Health Center.
Harry was a 1939 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He then attended U.W. Madison until entering the U.S. Army during WW2 where he served as a Captain in the Pacific Theater. Harry and Lila Mae were united in marriage on November 13, 1954. After the war, he attended U.W. Madison for a semester and was then employed at Wausau Paper Mill as the Plant Engineer where he retired in 1984. Harry was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as Treasurer for many years. He also served on the Trinity Lutheran School board and various other boards and committees. Harry was a member of the Merrill Kiwanis Club of which he had served as President. He was also a member of the U.W. Madison Alumni association. Harry was an avid Packer, Badger and Cubs fan. He enjoyed family time at the cottage on Lake Mohawksin.
Survivors include his daughter: Pam (Gary) Gojmerac of Merrill, special friend and companion: Helen Meyer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ida (Luenser) Erdman Sr., and his wife, Lila Mae (Schaefer).
Services will be Monday, June 22 at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Monday. Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park. Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
