Glorian M. Sukow, 84, Merrill, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
She was born on May 27, 1925 in Merrill to the late Arnold and Lucille (Jahnke) Wyland. Glorian married William “Rusty” Sukow in Merrill on June 16, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1996.
Glorian attended High School in Merrill. When she was younger, she helped on her parents’ farm. While still in high school, she moved into town and started working for Merrill Candy Company. After marrying “Rusty” she became a stay at home mother and homemaker. Later in life, Glorian worked at Nelson Rexall Drug Store, Montgomery Ward Catalog Store, Oconomowoc Canning Company and finally at John’s United Food King, where she retired in 1988. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she was involved in the Ladies Aid. Glorian enjoyed fishing, playing cards, needlepoint and spending time with her family.
Survivors include 1 daughter: Kathy (Chris) Comport, Merrill; 2 sons: William (Jean) Sukow, Stevens Point, and Terrance (Terri) Sukow, Merrill: 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters: Patricia (Scott) Stevenson, Tomahawk, Verdaine Mattson, Merrill, Delores Smith, Medford, Emily Streich, Merrill, Loretta (Ron) Hulke, Kenosha, Pearl Waldburger, Tomahawk, and Sandy (Fran) Doering, Payson, AZ; 2 brothers: Allen (Doris) Wyland, MT, and Arnold “Butch” (Carol) Wyland Jr., Merrill; and special friend for 12 years, Les Becker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William.
Services will be 11:30 AM Monday, April 19, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at
