Glenn Samuelson

September 1, 1937 — August 28, 2013

Glenn J. Samuelson, age 75, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Artesian Living Center, Merrill. He was born September 1, 1937 in Merrill to the late Clarence B. and Margaret E. (Schultz) Samuelson. Glenn and Karen Woller were united in marriage July 18, 1970 in Merrill. They owned and operated a black angus beef farm for 10 years. Glenn grew up on a farm and soon learned that he loved farming. At a young age, he started taking things apart and putting them back together. As he got older, Glenn figured out how to put tractor engines together which turned into a love of restoring and repairing old tractors. Glenn graduated from Merrill Senior High School. He attended UW River Falls, graduating with a BA Degree in Agriculture Education. Glenn worked over 28 years as a parts man at Knispel & Latzig. He then worked at Customer One Co-Op for 4years before retirement. He spent his time rebuilding and repairing tractors at his home. Another thing he invested a lot of time in was the North Central Steam & Gas Engine Show where he showed off his restored Farmall tractors. He was a Boy Scout helper for many years. Glenn was also a long time member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau where he served as president for 10+ years and when not serving as president, he was involved as a delegate. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Glenn enjoyed mowing his lawn with his John Deere lawn mower, fishing, camping, spending time with his dog, watching Packer games and Brewer games and going to Woodchuck games. He loved his pets, especially his dogs, Spike, Smokey and Jake and his cat that picked him, Princess. Glenn most enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was going out to eat or sitting down together to play sheep head, those times were, by far, the best. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Karen Samuelson, Merrill: son, Nathan (Julie, Fiancé) Samuelson, Franklin, WI; daughter, Amanda Samuelson, Merrill: grandchildren, Jennifer Stillings, Milwaukee, Casey Samuelson, Rockhill, SC, and Paige Samuelson, Rockhill, SC; brother, Leon (Kathryn) Samuelson, Rhinelander: sister, Janet (Duane) Olson, Antigo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Stephen. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 6, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning. Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Thursday, September 5 at Waid Funeral Home and again from 10 AM until the time of service at the church Friday. Burial will follow the service in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials for Glenn may be directed to his family. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
