Germaine Averill

Germaine H. Averill, age 87, of Merrill, peacefully passed away August 6th, 2020 at Waunakee Manor under the care of Agrace Hospice of Janesville. She was born April 22, 1933 in Merrill to the late Philip J. and Helen M. (Riebe) Klimek. Germaine and Harry Averill were united in marriage June 8, 1957, a union that would last for nearly 45 years. Sadly, he preceded her in death March 13, 2002.

Germaine was a teacher for Woodruff State Grade School for most of her career. She had also taught at St. Matthew’s in Wausau. Germaine enjoyed her students and took great pleasure in giving them the best education she could. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Parish and enjoyed various church responsibilities she took on. Germaine was also a past Lioness.

Survivors include her children: Ann (Gordon) Bullis, Fond Du Lac, WI, Kathryn (Gary) Warrichaiet, Pewaukee, WI, and Michael (Ann) Averill, Windsor, WI; 7 grandchildren: Andrew (Raven) Bullis, Alex (Elysha Riley) Bullis, Selena (Zack Meisner) Bullis, Ben (Karen) Warrichaiet, Peter (Kailey) Warrichaiet, Philip (Olivia) Averill & Sam (Danielle Sherman) Averill; one great-grandchild, Violette Riley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Helen Klimek, husband, Harry Averill, sister, Caroline Iattoni.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11AM on Friday, August 14, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Fr. Maria Vallabhaneni.  Private family visitation.  Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
