Gerald Loskot

Gerald John Loskot, 81, of Merrill, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center. He was born September 1, 1931 in Marathon County to the late Jerome and Pauline (Meyer) Loskot. On June 26, 1964 he and Barbara Benzinger were united in marriage in Merrill. She survives. Gerald joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Gerald worked at various companies over the years but most recently worked at O'Byrne Distribution in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, he and his wife, Barbara moved back to the Merrill area. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and the outdoors. He also loved to go to Polka Dances. Survivors include his wife of 48 years: Barbara Loskot, Merrill; daughter: Penny (Ernie) Garza, Eagle, WI; son: David Loskot, Merrill; six grandchildren: Jolena (Jeff) Davies, Sara (Haitham) Burwag, Jeffrey Loskot, Jessica Loskot, Katie Loskot and Jacob Garza; two sisters: Elaine (Louie) Thibault, Pewaukee, WI and Diane Heitkemper, Yuba City, CA; one brother: Edward (Ceil) Loskot, Waupaca, WI; and his beloved sisters-in-law: Marlene Benzinger, Terry Frisch and Bonnie Benzinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Darren. There will be no services. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
