George R. Japke, age 77, of the town of Pine River, died on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1939 to William and Florence (Doering) Japke in Ontonogan, MI. William proceeded him in death in 1966. Florence survives. George attended and graduated from Merrill High School. He furthered his education by attending Oklahoma University for three years. George spent most of his adult life driving truck for various companies, including ITC and Hatley. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and would cheer them on every chance he had. George loved his grandchildren with all of his heart, he was so proud of them. He cherished his time spent with them. In his spare time, he would enjoy going fishing. George was known to be a "jokster", with a great sense of humor. He was a very hard worker with a good and generous heart. George will be remembered as being a loyal and honest man. George is survived by his mother: Florence Kisinger, two children: David Japke and Jody Japke, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother: David Wedler and friend: Sandra Street. He is preceded in death by his father: William Japke and sister: Phyllis Schilke. Per George's request, no services will be held.
