Genevieve Rampart

Genevieve J. Rampart, 88, Weston, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Weston.


Gen was born April 22, 1921 in Tomahawk, to the late Henry and Belinda (Hartwig) Barney. She married Carl Rampart on February 18, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1979.


Gen worked many years at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory where she was a shoe stitcher. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Gen and Carl were owners of Cully’s Tap on the Westside of Merrill. She also worked at Rockford Packaging Company where she was a factory worker. Gen had also been involved with the Commission on Aging and a member of Sweet Adelines. She loved to read romance novels and in her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, dancing, playing cribbage and spending time with her family.


Survivors include her 2 daughters: Carlene Marquardt, Merrill, and Sherry (Phil Werner) Miller-Werner, Ringle; 7 grandchildren: Cindy Kimmons, Tammy Engel, Nancy Bryan, Kelly Marquardt, Laurie Knorr, Troy Miller and Todd Miller; 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Sharon Olivotti; granddaughter, Melissa Zimmerman; and 3 brothers, Ray, Ralph and Darwin Barney.


Services will be held Friday, April 9 at 1:30 PM at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will also be Friday, April 9, 2010 from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
