Frank Murphy

Frank Murphy Sr., 86, Merrill passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill. He was born on March 22, 1924 in Massachusetts to the late Joseph & Grace (Spires) Murphy. Frank is the last survivor of seven children. He married Margaret Broadway on April 15, 1944 in Hollywood, FL. She survives. Frank served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1947 during WWII serving in the South Pacific. He worked as Food Service Manager for the State of Wisconsin Correctional Institutes and as Food Service Administrator for Lincoln Hills School. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Frank was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Broadway) Murphy; daughters: Valerie (Dan) Nicholson and Judi (Charles ?Bubs?) Johnson, all of Merrill; son: Frank (Becky) Murphy Jr. of Merrill; 9 grandchildren: Mark, Keith and Scott Nicholson, Heather (Guthrie) Swider, Ryan Guthrie, Jennifer (Lokemoen) Peterson, Megan (Murphy) Strobel, Shannon Murphy and Joseph Murphy. He is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Margaret ?Peggy? Murphy. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 19, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Don King will officiate. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Friday before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial sent to Never Forgotten Honor Flight, Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, 500 1st Street Suite 2600, Wausau, WI 54403.
