Ervin Plautz

Ervin F. Plautz was born February 9, 1920 to August and Lydia (Ollhoff) Plautz. He went to be with his heavenly Father on October 2, 2011. Ervin started out logging and working for Fromm Brothers. He then worked at American Motors in Kenosha. He came back to Merrill to work on furnaces. Eventually he ended up working for Sheet Metal Workers of America and retired from there in 1980. He loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed playing sheephead, cribbage, playing darts and bowling. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He could also be a jokester and you never knew when he would say something that would make you laugh. He cared about everyone which was evident from the positive things told to his family by his caregivers. Ervin is survived by his 6 children: Anne (Larry) Nethery of Corinth, Mississippi, Jerry (Lee) Plautz of Georgetown, South Carolina, Liz (Denny) Neumann of Merrill, Steve Plautz (friend Debra Lewis) of Daleyville, WI, Phillip ( Debbie) Plautz of Rothschild, Tim (Cheri) Plautz of Merrill, 14 grandchildren: Tina (Ricky) Essary, Ladron (Nan) Nethery, Theresa (Rob) Williams, Sarah (Plautz) Thunder, Karen Plautz, Erin Plautz, Lisa (Rob) Hensley, Tara Neumann, Rick (Kristy) Neumann, Jeremy (Melissa) Plautz, Jesse Plautz, Nathan Plautz, Noah Plautz, and Melissa (Jamie) Christian. 13 great grandchildren with one on the way and 5 great great grandchildren. One sister Lorraine Grunenwald of Merrill, one brother Donald Plautz of Rothschild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Michael Plautz, 3 sisters, Hilma Sawyer, Clara Roesler, and Mary Jane Smith. Visitation will be 3pm-6pm Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Waid Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 6 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Mel Hassel officiating. Burial will be at 10am Thursday October 6th, 2011 at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Waid funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
