Elmira M. Krause, 83, of Merrill, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024.
Elmira was born February 18, 1941, in Merrill, daughter of Elmer and Wilhelmina ‘Minnie’
(Kienbaum) Henrich. She married Jerry Krause on April 18, 1959, a union that lasted 65 years.
Elmira was a homemaker and worked at their business, Quality Furnace Shop.
Elmira loved to bake, garden, work on puzzles, and take vacations. She enjoyed spending time at
their cottage on Muskellunge Lake in Tomahawk and taking their ’57 T-Bird to car shows. She
loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. She met with
High School friends every other week for lunch, a tradition they kept up for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Krause of Merrill; daughters, Polly Krause Endres of
Kronenwetter and Mary Jo (Mike) Messerschmidt of Merrill; grandchildren, Mariah (Seth)
Feldman of Madison, Kacie Endres of Suffolk, VA, Kelsey (Alex) Cordova of Madison, and
Adam Messerschmidt (Emily Zelhart) of West Allis. Elmira was preceded in death by her
parents, Elmer and Minnie Henrich; son-in-law, Ed Endres; siblings, Dorothy (Kenneth) Berndt,
Florence Henrich, Jane (Franklin) Graveen, Art (Ruth) Henrich, and Lucille (John) Jarvi.
The funeral service for Elmira will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 25, 2024, at St.
Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Michael Southcombe will officiate.
Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends
beginning at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff and caring residents who watched over Elmira at
Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for the
care they provided during her stay. They would also like to give a special thank you to
Dave and Diane Marnholtz for their many years of friendship and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephens United Church of Christ Endowment
Fund, Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, or a charity of your choosing.
