Edna A. Jackson, 79, of Gleason, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born November 2, 1933 in Merrill to the late Edward & Florence (Guerin) Schielke. On May 24, 1958 she married David Jackson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Doering. Edna was a 1951 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. She went on to attend Lincoln County Teacher's College and received her teaching degree in 1953. Edna taught at rural schools for 7 years before becoming a Teacher's Aid at Midway School, a position she enjoyed for 26 years. She also enjoyed playing piano and organ, which she played all by ear. Edna liked baking pies and tending to the beautiful flowers around her home. She was a Blue Jay fan and attended many local athletic events where, back in 1951, she first met her husband, David. Edna loved to travel with her family and truly enjoyed being so close to them and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband: David Jackson, Gleason; two sons: Dan (Mary Bauman) Jackson, Gleason, and Steve (Heidi) Jackson, Antigo; two grandchildren: Katie (Joe) Frappy, Wittenberg, and Molly Jackson, Oshkosh; two sisters: Marjorie Rajek and Mary Heller; and special friend, Renate Reichs. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law: Harold Rajek and Joe Heller. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Luther Memorial Church, Gleason, or to the Lincoln County Meals on Wheels program. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com. The family wishes to thank the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice for their tender heartfelt attention to Edna's needs.
