Donald Schuster

Donald "Sarge" R. Schuster, 74, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. He was born on March 12, 1938 in Merrill to the late Harold & Frieda (Foos) Schuster. He married Barbara Allen on October 10, 1981 in Merrill. Donald served in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He was very health focused and enjoyed weight lifting to stay in shape. Donald also loved walking at Council Grounds but was too stubborn to pay for a sticker, being a Merrill resident all his life. He had two motorcycles he loved to ride-his Harley and his "Cadillac" (Goldwing). Donald also enjoyed fly fishing for trout. He had been a member of the Eagles Club for many years. Survivors include his wife: Barbara Schuster, Merrill; two daughters: Sherry, Texas, & Tammy Williams, Tomahawk; four step-children: Jamie Schwartz, & Laureen Podeweltz, Brian Schwartz & Amy David, all of Merrill; two sisters-in-law: Beverly (Rick) Henrichs, Tomahawk, & Joanne (Monty) Sczygelski, Merrill; close friends: Terri (Marlene Benzinger) Frisch, Shirley Eggers, & Rick (Patty) Granato, all of Merrill; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 7 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Waid Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robert Smallman will officiate.
