Donald Ruhl, 70, of Merrill died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
Don was born in 1938 in Chigago, IL, to the late Jacob and Mary(Riegenborne) Ruhl. Don was a 1956 graduate of Antioch High School. He married Salene Nebel on October 3, 1959 in Antioch, IL.
After graduating High School, Don went on to work at Harpers in Morton Grove, IL, then went into the U.S. Air Force where he served in Labradore and Ellsworth Air Force Base as an airman 2nd class. He was honorably discharged in 1964. He then worked at Victory Carbide & Skach Manufacturing as a Tool & Dye maker until moving to Merrill in 1991. Don was then employed in Machinist Maintenance at Merrill Iron & Steel until retiring in 2003. His hobby was working the land and taking care of his animals. He will be remembered as the "Jack of all Trades". Don was also a proud member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Salene Ruhl, Merrill, his son Barry(Dottie) Ruhl of Athens, 4 daughters; Theresa (Mike)Stiernagle of Merrill, Cathy(Mark) Everett of Muskegon, Christine Ruhl of Antigo and Ceceilia Ruhl of Bedford Tx, 8 grandchildren; Mark(DeAnn), Corey, Shannon, Cassandra, Donna, Autumn, Sabrina and Lexie, 2 great-grandchildren; Ethan and Kaylee.
Don was preceeded in death by his parents, his children; Johnny, 1 infant daughter and his daughter Constance, his son-in-law, Roger, two granddaughters; Jessica and Erica, and his brother Jim Ruhl.
Services will be held 11:00 on Monday, May 11 at Waid Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, May 10 from 4-8 at the Funeral Home. Father Horath will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery.
