Dennis Nass

Dennis K. Nass passed away on May 25, 2020, on his 67th birthday, to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He was under the care of Mount View Care Center and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Dennis was born on May 25, 1953 to the late Marvin and Lucille (Jaeger) Nass.

Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Merrill High School where he was an active member of the FFA. In July 1971, Dennis joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served until July 1974. In July 1975, he began working for Wausau Papers and worked there until he retired. Dennis also helped work on his aunt and uncle’s farm from his teenage years through many of his adult years. Dennis married Joleen Lupton in October of 1975 and together raised two daughters, Lori and Becky. They were married for 32 years before going their separate ways.

Dennis was a man of faith and deeply cared about his family. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Dennis was a hard worker throughout his life and liked to be busy. He enjoyed the animals on the hobby farm, being outdoors and hunting. Dennis also enjoyed socializing, especially with neighbors and friends. Anywhere that he went, he found someone he knew to talk to.

Dennis is survived by his daughters: Lori Nass, Schofield, Becky (Michael) Rindt, Merrill and grandchildren: Haley and Kelsey Rindt and Dominic McDuffy. He is also survived by his siblings: Glenn (Elaine) Nass, Karen (John) Bloechl, Susan (Jeff) Forster, Brian (Marge) Nass, all of Merrill, Allan (Diane) Nass, Ralph (Linda) Nass, both of Wausau, Sharon (Paul) Pugnier, San Diego, CA. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Nass and Lucille Pophal.

A drive-thru visitation will be held at Waid Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 3PM to 7PM. To protect the health and safety of all, services are currently being limited as required by state and local authorities & the CDC which will require all to remain in their vehicles.  Please come to the visitation from Hwy 64 onto Eagle Drive entering the south driveway to help with flow of traffic.  There will be a staff member at the entrance to give you instructions & a memorial folder and there will be a staff member at the exit to collect cards or memories you may write down to be given to the family.

Funeral Service will be held outside on Friday, May 29, 2020 in the Waid Funeral Home parking lot at 11AM (Please remain in or by your vehicles) or you can be at the service virtually by going onto the website the day of service under the obituary will be a "live stream" of the service.  There will be a drive-thru visitation on Friday from 10AM to 11AM.

Private Family Burial at Merrill Memorial Park.  Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #1638.
