Dennis Guenther

Dennis H. Guenther, age 64, of Merrill, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. He was born May 6, 1948, the son of the late Harold and Erma (Kline) Guenther, in Stratford. He married the former Cynthia Whitney on August 14, 1982, in Merrill. She survives him. Dennis attended Merrill Senior High School. He then went to NTC and served in the plumbing Apprenticeship program. Dennis worked as a Union Plumber for most of his life. He served as a business manager for Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 557 and was an organizer for Wisconsin Pipe Trades. He retired and followed his passion of logging and working in the woods. Dennis was a member and Elder of Riverside Presbyterian church in Gleason. He enjoyed snowmobile racing, hunting and fishing, golfing, watching football, camping and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Merrill, one son, Gerald (Shelly) Guenther of Edgar, one daughter, Janeen (Peter) LaBorde of Merrill, 5 grandchildren: Courtney (Eric) Hartwig, Kyley and Whitney Guenther and Taylor and Sarah LaBorde. One brother: David (Kerry) Guenther of Wausau and one sister, Patricia (Mike) Rice of Merrill. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Beth Guenther, a brother, Ray Guenther and a granddaughter, Jordyn Guenther. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Merrill. The Rev. Don King will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Waid Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. The family requests memorials be given to the Lincoln County Humane society, Riverside Presbyterian Church or First Presbyterian church. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
