David Haskins

February 2, 1942 — November 28, 2009



David R. Haskins, age 67, of Merrill, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.





David was born February 2, 1942 in DePere, WI the son of Raymond and Viola (Kargus) Haskins. David and Pearl Coblentz were united in marriage December 26, 1960 in Antigo. He served with the U.S. Army 32 nd Division from 1961-1967.





David had attended the Police Academy in Florida , where he received many law enforcement degrees.





Throughout his career David worked for the Tomahawk Police Department, Amble, as a ski inventor, Heart Of The North Security Company, he taught Videoing Crime Scene Class at North Central Technical College and drug education before the D.A.R.E. program. He also worked for The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, then served as the Lincoln County Coroner, and Wisconsin Video Marketing Services.





David belonged to the Merrill Optimist Club, Merrill Lions Club, Lincoln Co. Fairboard, Merrill Riders Club, and was Captain of the Civil Air Patrol.





Survivors include: Wife: Pearl of Merrill,



Brother: Kenneth (Paula) Haskins, Seattle , WA



Son: Norman (Becky) Haskins, Merrill



4 daughters: Rita (Steve) Giese, Muskego ,



Florence (Eric) Steckling, Tomahawk,



Lou (Jon) Pfeifer, Newnan , Ga ,



Beth (Alan) Schiller, Merrill,



11 grandchildren: Kasey Haskins, Hollie Haskins, David Beebe, Luke Giese, Noel Giese, Matthew Zocher, Ashley Zocher, Amanda Schiller, Luke Schiller, Eric Pfeifer, Allison Pfeifer.





He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Viola Haskins.





Funeral service will be



The Rev. Scott Hawker will officiate, with burial to follow at Merrill Memorial Park .





If desired memorials may be made to St. Stephens United Church of Christ, or to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
