Charlotte A. LaBarge (Jaeger) died April 15, 2010 at Marywood Convalescent Center in Wausau. Charlotte was born April 17, 1928 in Wausau, daughter of the late Arthur and Elfreida (Lambrecht) Porath. She and Roman (Romi) LaBarge were united in marriage on August 10, 1974. He preceded her in death April 24, 2007.
Charlotte was floor supervisor for Tiny Tot Manufacturing Company of Merrill for 17 years. She and Romi managed the Villa East Apartment Complex for 17 years.
Charlotte was involved with many organizations and community activities, such as past District President of the V.F.W., Past Auxiliary President of Post 1638, The American Legion Auxiliary, Lions Club, Women of the Moose, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing, bingo, fishing, music and the Green Bay Packers. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons: Larry Wayne (Ginny) Jaeger, Wausau, and Perry (Bobbi Jo) LaBarge, Merrill; one step-daughter: Vicki LaBarge- Kerr, FL; four grandchildren: Aaron, Kimberly, Craig and Jafia; three step-grandchildren: Schawntae, Kirkland and Deszerae. Also surviving are siblings: Shirley Sabatke, Pearl (Leslie) Sabatke, Jr., Lorraine (Victor) Raddatz, all of Merrill, Grace Raddatz, Robert (Bernice) Porath and Ronald (Vernie) Porath, all of Wausau.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Roman (Romi), one sister: Lavila Steckling; two brothers: Melvin Porath and Otto Porath; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Porath, Pat Porath and Selma Porath; and brothers-in-law: Clifford Sabatke, Albert Steckling and Arnold Porath.
Visitation will be at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, from 4 – 7 PM Thursday April 22, 2010. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 7PM. Lay Minister Keane Foster will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Merrill, at a future date.
Memorials may be made to Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Marywood Convalescent Center and their staff, also to Dr. Kevin O’Connell and his staff for the exceptional care given to our mother.
