Charles E. Scolley

Charles E. Scolley, 76, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Aspirus Merrill Hospital. 

Charles was born June 17, 1948, in Frankfort, Indiana, son of Elvin and Cora (Robbins) Scolley. Charles enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 1, 1968. He served in Vietnam on the front line as an infantry sniper. He was honorably discharged as Lance Corporal (E-3) on March 31, 1974. Charles married Edtha Jane Scolley on October 5, 2001, in Frankfort, Indiana. 

Charles worked as a dairy farmer for several years before taking a position with Kolbe & Kolbe in Wausau. He retired from Kolbe & Kolbe after 32 years. Charles was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Gleason. Charles’ favorite pastimes were fishing, painting ceramics, and taking care of his dogs, Prince and Curly. He loved visiting with friends and helping anyone that needed help. 

Survivors include his wife, Edtha Jane Scolley of Merrill; sisters, Ruth (Rick) Sosnovske of Gleason and Georgia Black of Frankfort, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Charles will also be missed by his dogs, Prince and Curly. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Cora Scolley; son, Andrew Charles Scolley; stepson, Joshua Walker; and siblings, David (Erma) Scolley, Tom (Louise) Scolley, Carl (Irene) Scolley, Waneta (Lewis) Morris, Gladys Sanders, and Goldie Evelyn (Dale) Young. 

A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
