Annette Evenson, age 94 of Merrill, died on August 29, 2014 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Ministry Home Care & Hospice. Annette was born to Martin and Oline Johnson on April 13, 1920 in Merrill – where she spent most of her life. She was married in 1944 to Edward J. Evenson of Tomahawk, WI. Annette worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for many years, including World War II making military boots. She volunteered in her later years at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Merrill where she was a Charter Member and Jenny Towers with their lunch program. While living at Pine Crest Nursing Home, she was active in the chorus group and the Bible studies. Annette was a woman of integrity. She felt her gift in life was to always look out for those who were down on their own luck. She knew her stories would bring a smile to someone's face and help them to forget about their own problems. Annette was the last member to pass on in both her family and her husband Edward's family. That makes Annette the oldest and the longest living member of both families. Great Norwegian genes. She will be sadly missed. Annette is survived by her two daughters; Carol (Steven) Skamser of Superior, WI and Phyllis (Gene) Severt of Rothschild, WI: she was blessed with four grandchildren; Daniel (Lisa) Skamser of Ham Lake, MN, Jennifer (Christopher) Guymon of Beaverton, OR, Robert (Colleen) Yaatenen of Wausau, WI and Michael Severt of Wausau, WI: nine great grandchildren; Andrew, William and Patrick Skamser of Ham Lake, MN, Zackary Severt of Rhinelander, WI, Kelsee, Kylie and Camryn Yaatenen of Wausau, WI and Gregory and Matthew Guymon of Beaverton, OR. Annette is preceded in death by her parents; Martin and Oline, husband; Edward, her eight sisters; Martha, Alice, Anne, Mildred, Helen, Olga, Margaret and June, and her three brothers; Hans, John and Melvin. Funeral services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Merrill on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11AM. The visitation – also at the church - will begin at 10AM and continue until the time of the service. Rev. Sarah Kerkes, from Superior, WI, will officiate. Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park following the service. Family would like to sincerely thank Pine Crest and their staff for taking great care of their Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother! She was a special lady to all who knew her. Donations may be given in Annette's name to the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church kids camp. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
