Anna Langbeins, 102, of Merrill, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Anna was born on December 1, 1907 in Riga, Latvia to the late Peteris & Emiliya (Auseika) Leepa. She married Herbert Langbeins on March 7, 1942 in Jelgava, Latvia. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1976.
After Anna and Herbert were married, they came to Chicago, IL in 1950 where she worked in a knitting mill. They moved to Gleason, WI in 1960, and at that time, Anna worked at the Pea Cannery in Merrill. She also made wreaths at Christmas time for a local tree farm. Shortly after her husband died, she moved to Park Place, where she lived until September, 2003, when she moved to Pine Crest. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Anna was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing, gardening and berry picking. She loved all animals and always enjoyed the therapy dogs that came to see her, especially Kris’s dogs, Izzie, Kodie & Kirbie. Anna was an excellent cook and enjoyed making her famous Latvian recipes for her family and friends.
Survivors include her grand-daughter: Solveiga (Janis) Herberte; great-grand daughter: Linda; and her great-great-grand daughter: Everita, all of Riga, Latvia; her dear friend and guardian, Carol Fiebke and her friends in Chicago, Colorado, North Carolina and Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m.,Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Luther Memorial Cemetery in Gleason. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Pine Crest Nursing Home or Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice.
