Ammie Patton

Ammie Patton, age 77, of Merrill, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at Benedictine Nursing Home, Wausau. She was born April 8, 1936 in Aldrich, AL to the late Ocie and Lois (Brazzell) Bradford. She married Eddie Patton in Birmingham, AL on August 5, 1951. He preceded her in death November 23, 1973. Ammie worked as a rehab specialist at a nursing home. She loved to sit and play with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Ammie was an avid bowler and was a member of the Tuesday night women's league in Merrill. She enjoyed cooking and baking cakes and pies and loved to sing. Ammie was very active in the Merrill Area Community Enrichment Center where she played cards and crocheted. She was a member of Calvary Christian Church and participated in many church activities including pot luck Sundays, rummage sales and a cookie exchange. Ammie loved to share her faith by sending people the Living Water Daily Reflections Scriptures. Survivors include her two daughters: Celestia Wilkins, Chicago, IL, and Gwendolyn Foster, Merrill; four sons: Terry Patton, Merrill, Eddie Patton, Chicago, IL, Charles Patton, Chicago, IL, and James (Rachael) Patton, Blue Island, IL; 22 grandchildren; Chandra Wilkins, Chauna Wilkins, Chaniece Wilkins, Katie Patton, Terrell Sands, Diamond Slue, Annetta Patton, Marcus Patton, Shaurice Patton, Monique Patton, Alex Blair, Erickson Blair, Pete Blair, Anthony Blair, Adam Blair, Christine Patton, Jonathan Patton, Ajua Patton, James Patton Jr. (Brandy), Malik Patton, Raqkeha Walker and Marquis Walker, 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Andrew (Lovie) Davis, Shererville, IN and Joseph (Diane) David, Chicago, IL; and one sister: Kay (John) Harris, Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eddie, two sisters, Edna Carol and Ocie Butler, her daughter, Lois Elaine Patton, and two grandsons, Xavier Patton and Charles Patton, Jr. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Calvary Christian Church, Merrill. Pastor Randy Julson will officiate. Visitation will be from 11AM Friday, until the time of service at the church. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
