Al Kohler (Papa), dedicated father, proud grandfather, loyal friend and carefree companion left his "good life" on Sunday, August 11th, 2013. His presence will be forever felt on a warm summer day at the cottage, on a Thursday afternoon at the golf course or at a Friday night fish fry at The Relocation Pub. His life cannot be measured with events or dates, but rather moments he inspired all of us throughout his 82 years of life. Without knowing, he taught us about loyalty, through his dedication to the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. Without knowing, he showed us what hard work looked like while building his company, Taylor Insulation, from the ground up. Without trying, he showed us true love in its purest form while married to Shirley (Karvenon) Kohler for fifty one years. Without knowing, he taught us how to create a warm, loving family that would take care of each other through sickness, heartache and death. Without really trying, he taught his children Paula (Bruce Kanitz), Steve (Delores Kohler), Mary (Chuck Fritz) and Nina (Mark Skic) to be kind and loving parents. Without speaking, he delivered strong messages to his fourteen grandchildren, Missy (John Cayley), Megan (Jared Anderson), Becca, Matt (Khayla Kanitz), Alex, Allison (Judd Eastman), Teddy, Mitchell, Andy, Abby, Stephanie (John Jewell), Sophie (Brian Waldvogel), Luke and Sam. He reminded all of us to never lose sight of what is important in life. Without trying, he taught his great-grandchildren Ben, Jack, Charlie, Everett, Beckett, Francie, Lyla, Bodie, Lou, Ella, Ty, A.J., Maggie and Carter the importance of a sense of humor. Without trying, he taught all of us to value friendship and companionship through every stage of life. And, in the end, without even trying, he showed us tremendous strength and courage while enjoying his last days at his home, surrounded by the family that he created. We will continue to celebrate your "good life" and live like you have taught us.…without even trying.
